USS LST 325 Normandy Landing Craft

22 Sep

Today Becky and I spent her first Saturday back, after her trip to Syracuse, touring the USS LST 325. This particular ship was a Landing craft used during the Normandy invasion. This year the memorial committee decided to sail it to Nashville and dock it at Riverfront Park for a week. After about a 20 minute wait to enter the ship (quite a crowd), we had a 45 minute tour of a ship carried approximately 110 crew members, 100 sailors with 10 officers. Normally the captain of the LST would be either an Ensign or a Lieutenant. This particular ship was transferred to the Greek navy for a number of years before being acquired by The USS Ship Memorial, Inc. – Look for the MASH movie connection within the pictures (hint, its towards the beginning)

Enjoy the pictures here

BTW — Thrilled to have her home
