Sunday and Monday

08 Oct

Sunday we spent a quiet, wet morning enjoying breakfast with our friends from North Carolina before they had to leave us and head home. Becky and I spent the rest of the day at the cabin relaxing with a fire and the quietness of the woods. We watched as the clouds rolled up and down the mountains. Sometimes they gave us a glance of the sky, while other times we could hardly see the mountains around us. Just a great day to enjoy that new book on my iPad.

Monday we woke up to the wonderful sound of……….wait for it……RAIN again…. Yep another fall day in the mountains…but it’s Monday and we didn’t have to go to work.
So after breakfast we decided to see what
Pigeon Forge had to offer.  We went off to find the Old Mill Restaurant that had been recommended to us. We ended up at the Old Mill Square @oldmillsquare in Pigeon Forge. We had a wonderful lunch meal at the restaurant that brought back memories of eating at the Old Forge Mill on our honeymoon, 31 years ago..except this time we would return to a cabin with HEAT in it. After lunch we walked around the square and into the shops which included The Old Mill & General Store, The Old Mill Pigeon River Pottery and of course The Old Mill Candy Kitchen for handmade taffy.

Then back to the cabin to relax and see if the mountains reappear. It’s 5:30 and we haven’t seen them yet……good thing we are not flying a plane
