I arrived home yesterday to hear Becky walking down the stairs saying “let’s go talk to grandpa”. I was greeted with a smile from Elise via FaceTime. I can’t imagine what it was like before the internet age when you had to wait days, weeks or months to see pictures, not to mention live video, of those that didn’t live within easy driving distance. That was a great way to end a busy work day.
But it didn’t end there!
Normally on Tuesday’s we have Jeremy’s friends (our adopted kids) Chris and Ashley Shrom over for dinner and NCIS. As you can guess we have also added “our” Ashley for the evening. Well this week, Jeremy and Chris are on the road. Chris is the Lighting Director for Little Big Town and was headed to Canada and Jeremy was in Washington DC. But that did not stop our Daughter-in-law from joining us for the evening. We are very happy she is comfortable enough to enjoy our company even without her husband around.
However, she also came with work. She needed to copy files from one hard drive to another, so she set up in the living room and let the copy run for the next 3 1/2 hours. Then after dinner we headed to the shop because she needed some shelves sanded to go back into a closet. They had some old paint under some old contact paper. But, Ashley was up to the challenge.
She put on an old shirt, attached the vacuum to the sander and off she went for the next 1 1/2 hours.
A great family fit!
