Over the past couple of years on Tuesday evening we have had dinner and watched NCIS with Jeremy and his friends Chris and Ashley Shrom. As you can imagine, our/his Ashley has become part of that evening as well. Even when the guys are out of town, the girls will still come over for dinner.
This week Chris would be returning after a few weeks of being on the road with Little Big Town, (he is their Lighting Director). Jeremy however, is in Maine or Massachusetts or wherever. We lose track at times where he is.
Ashley called and said that a friend was coming into town and could she bring her friend to dinner. Of course, friends are always welcome at any time. As long as they enjoy NCIS, no worries.
With Chris in town, I needed some help with the room we are redecorating, so I recruited him to help with some stuff. We spent about an hour working and catching up on life. I told him that these are the times I miss not having Jeremy around. While Becky does a wonderful job, those strong, extra pair of hands can be useful.
After we finished, while waiting for Ashley to arrive for dinner, we were all standing in the kitchen talking and Becky made mention that it would be nice to see her son sometime soon, but we knew it would still be a week or so before he was home long enough to visit. I heard the door open and heard that always cheerful voice of Ashley Bayne and figured we would finally see who was coming for dinner. Becky decided it was Ashley’s dad and I figured it was her brother.
Then we heard the all familiar deep voice, HELLO. It was Jeremy who was the special guest.
The weather in the northeast was forecasted to be so bad that they canceled the final show for this week and decided to fly everyone home. What an awesome surprise! Of course the Shroms knew the secret and did a great job hiding it.
It was great having everyone back in the fold for the evening. It was exciting to hear the plans and dreams of both couples. And of course, it was nice to see the couch full again. Although, I think we could have fit 2 more people on it considering how close they were sitting together .
We all got to facetime with Elise and David as well.
Moral of the story… Snow Storms are not all bad
