We arrived home tonight after a successful experiment of flying to see Elise, Sarah and David in South Bend. We flew into Midway airport and then drove 1.5 hours, as opposed to 8 hours, to their house.
What a great weekend! We were able to spend a lot of time with Elise while mom and dad caught up on some much needed work and schooling. David is doing a spectacular job juggling work, school and family. Sarah is a wonderful mom and wife, doing a fabulous job of running the South Bend Sylvan Learning center. As parents, we are very proud of them both.
Elise and I got to watch Red Sox baseball and SU basketball together. We are starting her off on the right foot.
Sunday we went on a field trip to Michigan. They took me to lunch for my birthday at Redamaks resturant.
We even got to see the beach! However, we did not go swimming
Then Sarah came up with the idea to make me a homemade, home-grown carrot cake. She and Becky made it for scratch with actual carrots from Sarah’s garden. They even made homemade butter icing that I could eat! It was the most special and delicious birthday cake I have ever had!!
Thank you for making it a special day.
